clim@ventures

Clim@venture 1.5 is a project that fosters action-oriented climate education in schools across Europe, designed and implemented by Changemaker (Sweden), bachmann-education (Germany), Italia che Cambia (Italy) and Forum ViA (Austria), co-financed by the European Union in the context of the Erasmus Plus - KA2 - Cooperation Partnership.

Why clim@ventures are developed?

Students are supposed to

bring climate knowledge and experience from the classroom into communities, find best-practice-examples for climate-protection by exploring their region or Europe, interview inspiring and active people with great responsibility, reflect on inspiring (new) job careers. They exchange with other pupils and schools about their experiences in Europe and contribute to a public network full of "clim@venture-stories” on social media ot on the school-media.

What kind of adventures will be possible?

Energy@venture

After acquiring knowledge about climate change, the SDGs, and energy-related topics, students will reflect on personal values and interests. They gain experience on the topic of energy and the role that carbon dioxide plays in climate change. In doing so, the connection between knowledge, personal and political responsibility in action becomes clear.

Scientific@venture

They will conduct experiments using common household and inexpensive ingredients. They will experiment independently in small groups and document their results with video and in pictures. They will learn how to tell exciting science stories and how important facts are for understanding processes such as climate change. Conversely, they come to grips with how great the danger is of stirring up resentment against necessary measures with false scientific facts.

Journalistic@venture
They conduct interviews with project founders and  changemakers in the region or abroad and focus on ways to reduce the negative impact on climate change. They explore the concept of the carbon foot/- and handprint. When they visit tourist sites as part of a student exchange, they ask the tourism manager what efforts are being made to make tourism sustainable. In the end, they create inspiring stories that show how important each individual is and that he/she can always make a difference!
Career@venture

After interviews with politicians, company bosses or project founders, they will reflect on possible professions and career perspectives in conversation with these people and find out what professional background their interlocutors have and how the decision came about. They will incorporate their personal values and interests into planning their career choices. They may discover new perspectives when they "look through green glasses" in the process.

Collab@venture

While doing the clim@venture, students are interacting with others. Ideally, they have online meetings with students from other countries and find out about similarities and differences when they explore their environment "with green glasses". They discuss what works as well as obstacles on the way to a sustainable region. They inspire and encourage each other to become changemakers themselves.
